Position Summary

This is a key position of the division with responsibility for effectively managing clients, projects and staff, with a focus on climate change, sustainability, energy and environment related engagements. High requirements of research, planning and delivering risk advisory services (i.e. fieldwork). Risk Advisory Services Senior Consultants also have a responsibility for extensive client contact, staff training and liaising with third parties. At RSM we operate with a hybrid working model that includes in office, client site and working from home (WFH). 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Conduct various sustainability and climate change consulting engagements, including planning and execution. This may include for example:
  1. Carrying out sustainability baseline and materiality assessments and developing sustainability Roadmaps and Strategies;
  2. Working with the client to collect their  data and develop a carbon account/inventory or Scope 1, Scope 2 and Scope 3 GHG emissions, as well climate risk assessments;
  3. Support clients in preparing for mandatory sustainability-related disclosure compliance in Australia and abroad;
  4. Developing Modern Slavery Statements;
  5. Supporting clients in obtaining key sustainability related certifications
  • Draft engagement reports in conjunction with Partner/Principal/Manager that provide practical and commercial business advice;
  • Supervision and co-ordination of the team including training, mentoring and methodology compliance;
  • Maintain strong budgetary discipline ensuring there are no major over runs. Ability to plan effective and realistic budgets;
  • Build relationship with clients at senior levels in different business environments;
  • Maintenance and completion of Engagement Files (i.e. electronic working papers) within a timely manner for Manager/Partner review;
  • Assist Partner/Principal and/or Managers in business development and marketing activities; and
  • Deliver workshops, conduct interviews and present findings and other recommendations to clients

Education Requirements:

Desirable

  • Bachelor’s Degree with a focus Environment or Sustainability is a major advantage
  • If without a degree in Environment or Sustainability other relevant training, certification or hands on experience will be considered
  • Experience with other aspects of Social or Governance consulting experience is an advantage

Demonstrated Experience & Attributes:

Essential

  • 3+ year’s sustainability experience preferably within Professional Services or a relevant industry position
  • Working understanding of at least some the below key domestic and international frameworks, regulations and methodologies including:
    • ASRS, NGER, GRI, SBTI, SASB, TNFD CSRD, GHG Protocol, CSDDD, EU Taxonomy, SFDR, CBAM, Climate Active, Accounting for Nature, Modern Slavery Act, Gender Equality Act
  • Passion for Sustainability, Climate Change, Environment or Social Issues
  • Strong communication skills, written and verbal in a client facing environment
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills and the ability to communicate complex concept in a straightforward manner

Desirable

  • Ability to speak a foreign language
