RSM Canberra are growing and our Risk Advisory Services team are looking for future leaders to join as Managers to deliver Risk, Controls, Internal Audit and Assurance services to government clients. The Risk team have a variable spread of work ensuring that the time spent is both engaging and career building. Your work will have a significant impact in ensuring government achieves the desired outcomes for all Australians. As a Manager you will also be responsible for the training and development of junior staffers as you mentor and shape the next generation of risk consultants.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manage various internal audit, control assurance and risk management engagements with responsibility over both the engagement and team members including having responsibility for planning, execution and scheduling of staff.
  • Ensures completion of each assignment to a high-quality standard, within budget and on or before deadlines, while controlling the progress of other assignments.
  • Management of risk team to deliver on the job training, mentoring and methodology compliance.
  • Understands relevant independence rules and ensures staff act in accordance with ethical standards and refers issues to partners.
  • Performs detailed reviews of audit team work and draft reports for Partners with practical recommendations.
  • Summarises the key areas of the engagement for the partner.
  • Finalisation of draft reports for Partner review that provide practical recommendations.
  • Support Partners in Business Development activities including preparation of tender responses, negotiation of fees, supporting with pitches and demonstrate commercial responsibility for profitability of each client.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

  • Professional qualifications such as CA, CIA, CISA or equivalent would be ideal, however if you have relevant experience without professional qualifications you will also be considered
  • Bachelors Degree in a relevant field such as finance, accounting, public administration or technology

DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:

Essential

  • Over 5 years’ experience in Professional Services or a strong professional background in risk advisory and internal audit.
  • Australian citizenship and either an existing government clearance or the ability to obtain one.
  • A strong client centric focus and experience delivering projects for clients on time and budget.
  • Management of a client portfolio such that all client needs are dealt with on a timely basis.
  • Business Development experience is not essential but is an advantage
