About the opportunity:

You would be a member of a small team with responsibility for performing the functions of a Registered Quality Assessor in line with the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (The Commission) Rules 2018. Assessments include undertaking research, planning, conducting field assessments and producing evidenced based reports.

The role involves extensive resident contact, liaising with service management and staff and assessing whether the service meets or does not meet the Aged Care Quality Standards for their residents as prescribed by the Commission. Upon visiting the service and engaging with residents and their carers, reviewing documents and collecting evidence of the care provided, you will contribute to the RSM Assessment report provided to the Commission.

You will be trained to become a Registered Quality Assessor and will be paid whilst you are trained.

Summary of Key Responsibilities:

  • Become registered and maintain registration as a Quality Assessor under the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission (ACQSA) Rules 2018.
  • Assess the quality of care and services provided through aged care facilities against the Aged Care Quality Standards in accordance with an Official Order received from ACQSA.
  • Participate and co-ordinate the Quality activities as part of an Assessment Team ensuring compliance with the obligations of a Registered Assessor as prescribed by ACQSC.
  • Interview residents and their representatives about the quality of care and services provided by an aged care service.
  • Ensure completion of each assessment to a high-quality standard in conjunction with the Team Leader including effective communication within RSM Aged Care Services
  • Adhere to ACQSC’s Quality Assessor Obligations (including the Code of Conduct), Registration Policy, Conflict of Interest Policy and Vaccination Policy.
  • Travel regularly within your State/Territory and across Australia.

Education Requirements:

Mandatory

  • A Bachelor’s degree from a university accepted in Australia and/or relevant work experience suitable for Quality Assessment activities;
  • Any other diploma and/or certificate; and
  • Successful Completion of the Quality Assessor Training Program provided by ACQSC.

Desirable

  • Relevant professional development activities.
  • Registered Nurse

Demonstrated Experience & Attributes:

Essential

  • 3+ years’ experience in a relevant occupational category;
  • An understanding of the aged care operational environment;
  • Knowledge or experience in the conduct of quality assessment services in Aged Care or other quality management/review processes;
  • Previous experience or ability to effectively operate in a small assessment team;
  • Analytical thinking and report writing skills;
  • Excellent time management skills;
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team; and
  • A willingness to travel each week.

Desirable

  • A current driver’s licence;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Adequate computer skills including the ability to learn and use new systems; and/or
  • Effective communication skills including an understanding of issues experienced by customers from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
