Position Summary

As a Manager at RSM in our SMSF division you will have a broad range of technical, client and supervisory responsibilities. From a technical point of view you will contribute to the preparation of financial statements, income tax returns and business activity statements for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds (SMSFs). In addition to this you will have responsibility for overseeing a portfolio of clients and managing a team of junior staff to deliver work on a timely and accurate manner and finally will provide support to Partners to grow the SMSF division.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Review SMSF work papers and ensure appropriate evidence is documented, before file goes to Audit.
  • Share knowledge, best practices and industry market trends to actively increase the overall knowledge of the team.
  • Meets with clients and is able to form positive relationships and identify value added opportunities;
  • Manages workflow of the team and communicates with partner on a frequent basis on necessary matters;
  • Reviews work of team members.  
  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with all current, legal and accounting reporting standards.
  • Meet lodgement and other reporting deadlines
  • Applies knowledge of the SMSF Legislation & related case law to the client circumstances;

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:

Essential

  • Business / Commerce degree with Accounting Major

Desirable

  • Completed or working towards completion of CA or equivalent
  • Completed SMSF specialist course

DEMONSTRATED EXPERIENCE & ATTRIBUTES:

Essential

  • 5-7 years’ experience in Professional Services 
  • Previous experience managing a team
  • Experience with CLASS
  • Strong Communication Skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Committed to continuing professional development
  • Business Development exposure
